Look at these gorgeous floors! This photo is from an airbnb in the Marais in Paris Spring 2015. I usually end up hanging out in the Marias, and there are no large chain hotels here. So....you can't use points, but it's also why of course I like the area.
Here is our street-right off Place du Vosges. Our "house" was up on the right.
I stayed here spring 2015 and would definitely recommend it. Reasonably priced, nice host, historic building, beautifully decorated. Located right off Place de Vosges, most of the restaurants I enjoyed are about at 10 minute walk. Mom will remember more about the history of the building...but I can tell you it was old and charming.
Unfortunately, it looks like it may no longer be available on airbnb....but keep your eyes open if it comes back. Regardless, renting an airbnb in Paris allows you to live like a local. You can stay in a neighborhood with regular people, not just tourists. The amenities of a nice hotel are also luxurious, but sometimes it's nice to mix it up.
