Another beautiful artist discovery at the beautiful Chloe Gallery: Carrie Graber. And just in time for summer!

How stunning are her golden glowy glamorous images with a vintage Palm Springs feel. I want to the be the girls in these paintings!

Carrie grew up Southern California, and you can see the hot summers showing up in her work. What stands out about Carries work is her ability to capture light. Influenced by Vermeer, this notion is also in line with the Hudson River School (paintings from the Northeast and Midwest from 19th century & early 20th century that captured light and effects of the sun). Graber adds her own modern twist by combining this beautiful of light with more modern themes: midcentury modern homes, glamorous girls, to give a more Pop feel.

Remember the artist we talked about last week, Aldo Luongo? He played an important part in her story. After graduating from Art Center College of Design, she started out as an apprentice to Luongo. A few months into the job, Luongo fired her. But this is not what you think! He fired her because of her talent. He paid for her apartment for a year and she was way too talented to be his apprentice; she needed to go create work of her own.

Graber is the only artist commissioned to paint the Stahl home in Los Angeles. You'll see this home many times in her work-different angles and different times of the day.
