How much do you love this charming patio? Emily Henderson did a great job taking an outdoor grassless space that was blah into the shining star of her home. The part that steals the show in my opinion is the gorgeous tile. You know I love tile, and this is really what makes the space stand out.
Tile is not cheap...Emily admits she spent approx $13k ($8,000 on tile + shipping from Granada Tile, $5,000 on installation). And that price is with her designer discount. But look what a difference! Don't you love how the tile falls down the stairs? Emily also added a border to give the trendy cement tile a more traditional look.
Much of her furniture is from Target. Emily demonstrates that you can splurge on part and make up for it in other areas.
Remember yesterday's post about grassless backyards? An exquisite outdoor space does not require grass. Look how adorable!
Look at these "before" photos below. Boring, huh? You could almost just ignore that space, maybe add a few chairs if you feel like it. She completely transformed the space into a delightful cozy space by adding plants, furniture, and tile.
Emily of course also styled the accessories for the photo shoot to entice you to stop by for a visit. Wouldn't you like to come by for a glass of wine in the sun? By adding furniture designated for serving food and drink, Emily created the perfect California casual entertaining space. Thanks to the wonderful Tessa Neustadt for these beautiful photos.
No budget for tile but still want to spruce up your space? Emily's first step was to paint the concrete. Not as glamorous as the tile, but a strong improvement over the before. Paint your patio while you save money for tile.
Outdoor spaces can be expensive, but they can also turn into your favorite part of your home. Make the most of any outdoor space you have. Amazing work, Emily!
