People have a strong reaction to the art above my entry table. Some say I should use something more subdued like a simple mirror. Some say the girl looks crazy. Most actually love it-they love the bold statement and they love the subject. Those who know me well say it is very "Neely." I love statement art, and I love a glamorous girl in fur. I think she looks fabulous - a bohemian girl out on the town. Perhaps a model in NYC in the 70's going from one party to the next.
The painting is by Thomas Saliot, who spends his time between Marrakech & Paris. Those who know me will not be surprised that I bought a painting from someone who lives in half Morocco half Paris.
Born in 1968, Thomas Saliot has been painting and traveling for the last 25 years. He finds photos from the web and paints them to be saved as snapshots of our time. He of course had a gallery in le Marais in Paris.
His work is modern, edgy, and some pieces may not be the taste of our parents.
He either hangs out with very sexy women, or he paints women in a very flattering way (if the latter, would love for him to paint me!).
