food as a gift

Food makes a great gift for Xmas!  The best is homemade, but we don't always have tons of extra time in December to bake homemade goodies.  Don't stress-you can buy something-people will still enjoy it!  A few ideas:

  1. Kringle
  2. Christmas Bread (panettone)
  3. Gold Belly Treat

Kringle is a Lawton favorite on Xmas morning....also works well for someone who is hosting brunch.  If you're not from Wisconsin, you may not be familiar, but it is delicious and very easy-just put in the oven.  Every once in a while you'll see it at Trader Joe's, or order it from the website and ship to a good friend.

Panettone is an Italian type of sweet bread loaf originally from Milan usually prepared and enjoyed for Christmas and New Year.  Mom sent me one from Williams Sonoma which I have been eating for breakfast every day.

Finally, Gold Belly is a website with treats from all over.  Famous restaurants from New York, Chicago, SF.  The shipping can be a bit expensive, but this is a great idea for the person you just can't think of anything they need (Dad!).  I get Dad something from here for birthday, Father's Day, etc.  I think his favorite so far has been Magnolia Bakery's Banana Pudding.

Last but not least, wine.  Not just a random bottle from the grocery store....something with a bit more thought.  How about a nice bottle from a winery you recently visited, or wine from one of your favorites.

Food makes a great gift during the holidays!
