wallpaper #5: creativity

Last day of wallpaper week.  I am including some creative inspiration below.  What other unique places have you seen wallpaper work well?  In cabinets, in closets, large murals, on doors, on stairs, on furniture, on the ceiling........where else could it go?

Black birds on white wall photo below from my good friend Vanessa from Space V&T at Ramirez Tran Salon.

wallpaper #4: kids

Kids rooms are a great place for wallpaper!  You could go soothing to induce sleep, festive to induce fun, or whimsical because they are kids after all!  Kids' bedrooms, nurseries, bathrooms, playrooms, wallpaper works well in any of these.

wallpaper #3: entry

A third great spot to play with wallpaper....your entry/foyer!  Usually a smaller area, no need to commit to the entire house.  Make sure that the colors pattern blend with the rest of your house.  Although I think you can go a little more wild than the rest of your home, this will set the tone of the rest of your house-give the guest an idea of what is to come.  So stick with a similar theme or color scheme.  Also make sure that your door turns into a great accessory for the wallpaper.

Are you a renter and so sad that you can't wallpaper your entry?  Fret no more.  Removable wallpaper is your friend.  Some ideas below, but please read the details to make sure these will work for your situation.

wallpaper #2: bathroom

Wallpaper in a powder room is a favorite of mine.  Since it's a small space, it's less of a commitment.  It's less overwhelming, and it's a good space to do something wild or funky.  Powder room is for guests-so make a memorable experience!  Some ideas below.

Are you ready to redo your powder room?  Fresh paint, new mirror, interesting wallpaper, new light or sconces--done!  Small & easy.

Notice some commonalities.  Round or interestingly shaped mirrors.  Only top half wallpapered.  Paint color that continues the wallpaper tone.

wallpaper #1: bedroom

Welcome to Wallpaper Week!  All week will be discussing the exciting topic of wallpaper.  How to use it in different spaces, what to do if you're a renter, price, etc.

Day one: Wallpaper in the bedroom.  Everyone knows I believe in a calm & soothing bedroom.  I'm cool with a bright funky kitchen, I would even go wild with a guest room.  But for my sleeping quarters, I lean toward white, soft, & serene.  For this feel, think of wallpaper as a way to add texture.  Stick to subtle colors and patterns.  Some just wallpaper the wall behind the bed rather than the entire room.  Zzzzzzzzz.........

What makes this bathroom special?  The wallpaper!  Imagine it with white painted walls......nice......but not really memorable.  I love wallpaper in a small powder room.  Get ready for wallpaper week next week!
